Bill Beigel
WWII, Korea and Vietnam Researcher

Bill Beigel does specialized WWII, Korea and Vietnam research. His website is located at:IRESEARCH.COM. WW2Research.com will yield a treasure trove of stories – about ordinary guys who answered the call to duty.

Bill’s work is recognized and he pursues the stories as though those men whose stories he tells were his own brothers. In many respects they were. Their stories are personal and yet hundreds, no thousands, are patiently waiting  for their moment in the sun. Many in the cast are known but are not yet ready for “prime time”. Real people, but just kids, fighting in the Adriatic Sea, the jungles of Vietnam, and exchanges of gun fire across the demilitarized zone all echo in Bill’s work. Even when efforts were made to open the DMZ in Korea, those efforts were notable failures. For example, Japan built the Dandong bridge in 1911. During the Korean war the US bombed the Dandong bridge into oblivion and it has largely been ignored, broken and rusting beyond repair. Just as efforts to open North Korea to trade (even with the Chinese) has failed, the new Dandong bridge is a “bridge” to nowhere. Incomplete and unused – a puzzle even the Chinese have not resolved.

Bill captures the stories of the men and woman whose lives were dramatically changed by conflict unresolved and yet still compelling.

This will likely be one of the best presentations we will have this year. And it happened by coincidence. Bill had a sign on the side of his car which I noticed as he parked on Concord Street. A chance conversation led to an invitation….
