Introduction and Announcements

Visitors

Keith Schuldt,  a long time Rotarian a while ago now lives in Iowa with his wife Joy visited the club.  He owned Schuldt Printing (Richmond St.) for a very long which occupied the space where Deluca’s Restaurant now sits.  I think he gave that to the city or some non-profit group and they in turn sold it to the owner of Deluca’s.  He was always very generous with his time and money and it was good to see him.  I can tell by looking at his face at the meeting that he really enjoys seeing Rotary go on with many different faces, and a few old timers.

Chase – Eagle Scout

Rotary has a long history of supporting our Eagle Scouts as the work on this distinquished award and Chase made a fine presentation on his project and the usual clip board was passed and I took a peak when it came by and it looked like he did OK.   A few of our Past Presidents were Eagles when they were young men.  I was in Scouting as a boy.  I was a sparrow.  Tom was a humming bird. Elyse wanted to be the first female Eagle Scout, so did Nancy...they were Peregrin Falcons. instead.

Joe’s Mom

A brave woman coming to the meeting and admitting to being Joe’s mom.  She was attractive, fun, articulate and in all ways seemed normal.  Go figure.

Joke Master

Jim McLees provided the giggles and Elyse did the fining.  She got Clair and a few others and then fined Keith (the visitor) and Joe’s mom.  She is tough.

The Program

A number of us were rather excited to hear that there is a South Bay “Garter Club” and came specifically to hear the presentation and find out how we could fit such a thing into our busy lives.  We thought it was a Gentleman’s Club.   Well, it is actually A Barter Club.  Where you “Barter” goods and services with others so inclined.  For example you could trade some Financial Counseling for a Car Wash,  A Large Pizza and some Ice Cream and Cake for a membership in Curves.  It is an idea which has had some legs lately and if you are interested talk to Clair for the details.

Last Weeks Contest Winners:  Joe Harding, Dave Reiman  (many participated and got it right, but were too late) Ask for a free raffle ticket.  We are working on quarterly prizes and and annual prize.
