NOTE:  Meeting This Thursday is at 115 Penn St. South Bay Customs and Art Gallery

The Meeting

The SC (Supreme Commander) is now fully engaged, and feeling good.  He has a swagger.  I arrived early as usual and watched things.   I like to do that.  I sat up close because the District is concerned that meetings may not be conducted “properly” and wanted to “keep an eye on things”.  (Bell Stolen, no Mystery Rotarian etc.)  They District Office selected some of us long time members to see what is going on.  Dave Reiman also sat up close on “Podium Row” to lend a legal perspective on things should it be necessary.  We are watching.

This is Kale.  (He is not a new potential member Dean so you don't have to call him)  Read further and you will find out why there is a picture of Kale.

Kale - Brain Food

Early on Tom sat across the aisle from me and “huddled” with Jack.  They whispered and giggled through the early meal time.   I think I saw one pull the others little finger.  They didn’t want to make eye contact with me. Something was up.

One of the items on the buffet was a Kale Salad (see above).  What is well known is that Kale is very important to eat while growing up because it helps in increasing intelligence, athletic and sexual prowess, and makes for a clean colon.  Tom had never had it before and didn’t like it.  That explains a few things.

Our local Vegetarian Frank Glynn would have liked the Salad, he is smart too.  He came late to get his Birthday Card but didn't eat.  Tom and I like Hot Dogs and Chillie.  Ribs --even better.  Maybe sausages.  Throw in a beer and/or some wine, or perhaps some Jack Daniels and you have a real meal.  Ice Cream Sunday for Desert.   A Manly meal.  That makes for a nice bovine shape.  Frank stopped reading a while ago and had to leave the room and throw up.

I will bet Jack liked the Kale.  Tom said it wasn't from the South so it must be from one of those East Coast Ivy League Colleges.  It makes you a liberal, but smart and tidy. A Starched Look.    Did you ever talk to Jack about "things".  He is really smart and knows much.  He can also write a perfect Email, lengthy with no mistakes.  Perfect.  Jack's about as smart a guy as I have ever met.  You should come to our Wed. morning (8:30, Blue Butterfly) coffee's.  We cover lots of topics and solve the worlds problems.

Card Time was greeted with a Birthday Card for Len’s 35th Anniversary and a Real Birthday Card for Frank Glynns Birthday.  It was very funny.

Elyse was the Jokester for the day and told one “with” the Supreme Commander.  The told it together; a team; it had a touch of naughtiness to it, just right.  It was a “Peaceful, Easy Feeling” kind of union.  Man and Woman; Old vs. New.  They looked good together up there at the podium, each trying to be a bit better than the other, but not too much.  Both quick witted -- lost in the moment.  They became one... Queen and Commander.  The Joke turned out well.   Nice going.  Nice dance.

Movie in the Park is Coming Up Quickly and we need to sell it out.  Chevron paid for a full page ad in the back of the local paper, and someone said the Beach Reporter as well.  Thank You Chevron and Lily.  You are absolutely precious to this club and the City of El Segundo and the South Bay in General.  This Event is our most important fund raiser and everyone should be on Board and working it if you can.  Times are tough…and as my dad use to say “the tough get going”.  Bring it on.

Kevin was back from his Hip Surgery and looked and felt good.  I think he had injured his hip at the Demotion Party and his portrayal of Steven Tyler as a judge for American Idol when he had a prurient interaction with Torch Singer Marsha Hansen.  The Video is available for a price Kevin, or it goes Viral.

The Program 1

The Rotary Club is thinking of Sponsoring a large Mural on the wall on the corner of Mariposa and Main (The Mailbox Building).  It would be a big one and locals Neil and Dawn came to make a presentation on what it might look like.  No “Theme” has been chosen yet, but Tom did bring up that he is the President and Supreme Commander and he should be featured, and Elyse was seen putting on some lip stick and flirting with Neil (and Dawn if she thinks that would get her face on the wall).  They both looked good.

The Program 2

David Bard from the Marine Mammal Care Project came to talk to us about his facility in San Pedro that saves water animals who need some care.  They are brought to the “hospital” which has been in existence for 20 years.  David started as a Volunteer and it was a fairly run down place, and now he has scratched the facility up to where they have a Vet available 7 days a week, lots of “pens” and “water ponds” for the sick Seals and Proposes to enjoy during their recovery.  I fell asleep a long time ago on the Beach in San Diego after an all night party and think I was brought to a facility like this one.  I think I had too much to drink.  I am sure of it.  I had to pay a fine to leave.

The End

Well, the two gigglers caught the Bulletin Editor for not shaking Jacks Hand.  With great starched fanfare Jack announced that I had not.  I was the only one in the room.  You would have thought they captured Bin Laden.  Everyone else had done the shake.  I admitted my folly and gladly paid the fine.

Additional Comment 1:  We had a potential new member visit us for the second time and I think her name was Barbara (I gotta get better at this).  I think it is a good idea for the members to go by and shake her hand and say they enjoyed meeting her (or him if it's a him) and say we look forward to seeing you again next week.  Then Dean will have an easier time getting new members.  It is also up to all of us to help recruit new members to come to a meeting, let's not leave it all up to Dean.

Additional Comment 2:  Our monthly fining pledge is one of those things that helps the club run.  Money is tough to come by now-a-days and the club needs all the help it can to continue to support all the causes to which we donate.  If you can pledge a little more see Ted.  He will put it on your bill.
